Nerther Out Far Nor in Deep -----Rebert Frost
The people along the sand
All turn and look one way.
They turn their back on the land.
They look at the sea all day.
As long as it takes to pass
A ship keeps raising its hull;
The wetter ground like glass
Reflects a standing gull
The land may vary more
But wherever the truth may be-
The water comes ashore,
And the people look at the sea.
They cannot look out far.
They cannot look in deep.
But when was that ever a bar
To any watch they keep?

人们在沙滩上
转身看向一个方向
他们背对着陆岗
整天都看着海洋
直到它经过为止
船身不断升高
水中的地面像个镜子
映出一只站立的鸥鸟
陆地上也许有更多变幻
但无论真相在哪边-
潮水都在奔涌上岸
人们向大海遥看
他们看不了太远
也看不到深处
但那怎么能够阻拦
他们不断探索的目光。
PS。 Poem Analysis上对于这首诗的解释。 说它讽刺了人类为了寻找不真实的、超出人类理解的东西而忽视或逃避现实 里面说用陆地和海洋来代表现实和现实的对立面，诗人写人们漠视陆地这个现实，而一味的看大海这个现实的对立面。
