黏度指数改进剂分子式：CAS号：性质：又称增黏剂（viscosity increaser）或黏度剂(viscosity agent)。一种油溶性有机聚合物。将其加入黏度较小的润滑油中能显著提高油品的黏度，并改善油品的黏温性能（即黏度指数增高），使油品能适应较宽工作温度范围内的黏度要求。它溶于油品中，其分子形态随温度高低而异：在高温下，其分子线卷伸展开来，导致油品分子间内摩擦力和黏度增加；在较低温度下，则正相反。作为多级润滑油的轻质基础油一般均具有良好的黏湿性能，加入这种添加剂的不仅可增大基础油的黏度，而且使多级油仍能保持较高的黏度指数。常见的品种有乙烯-丙烯共聚物、聚甲基丙烯酸酯及聚异丁烯等。
