轮作轮作croprotation在同一块田地上有顺序地在季节间和年度间轮换种植不同作物或复种组合的种植方式。是用地养地相结合的一种生物学措施。有利于均衡利用土壤养分和防治病、虫、草害;能有效地改善土壤的理化性状,调节土壤肥力。中国实行轮作历史悠久。旱地多采用以禾谷类作物为主或禾谷类作物、经济作物与豆类、绿肥作物轮换;稻田的水稻与旱作物轮换。欧洲在8世纪前盛行二圃式轮作,中世纪后发展为三圃式轮作。18世纪开始草田轮作。19世纪,J.V.李比希提出矿质营养学说,认为作物轮换可以均衡利用土壤营养。20世纪前期,B.P.威廉斯提出一年生作物与多年生混播牧草轮换的草田轮作制,可不断恢复和提高地力,增加作物和牧草产量。轮作因采用的方式不同,分为定区轮作和非定区轮作。轮作的命名决定于该轮作中的主要作物构成,被命名的作物群应占轮作区的1/3以上。常见的有禾谷类轮作、禾豆轮作、粮食和经济作物轮作,水旱轮作、草田轮作等。
