悬索屋盖施工用柔性钢索承受荷载的悬索屋盖的就位安装。悬索屋盖在大跨度的厅、馆中常有应用。中国早就已经有关于竹索桥和铁索桥的记载。1957年在乌拉圭蒙得维的亚首次将悬索用于直径为 310英尺(94.49米)的体育馆屋盖。 凹盘状的屋盖有一层从中心圆环上辐射出来的钢索,每根钢索的另一端锚固在体育馆外墙顶上的环梁上,中心圆环由钢索悬垂在空中。钢索上铺约5厘米(2英寸)预制混凝土板作屋面基层。1959年中国北京工人体育馆直径94米的比赛大厅屋盖采用上下两层钢索,屋顶呈凸起锥形的圆形双层悬索结构。1967年杭州浙江省人民体育馆采用60×80米椭圆平面的双曲抛物面索网,是两组互相正交的钢索,索端都锚固在一个空间曲梁上,利用索的曲率以及施加的预应力张拉,两组索在屋面荷载下紧贴,起共同作用。屋盖采用悬索结构,施工中不需要重型起重机械。中心圆环是钢结构的,用临时支座固定它的位置。在中心环和外墙环梁间安装钢索,并予以张拉建立初应力后,即可撤去支座,使中心环悬空就位,然后对称地对钢索施加预应力。钢索长度需经过计算,其端头装螺丝端杆,进行预拉伸和防腐处理。钢索架设后,屋盖的施工可在钢索上进行,比较方便。锚固钢索外端的环梁、边梁、框架等悬索屋盖的边缘支承构件,一般采用钢筋混凝土结构。这部分受力大,断面也大,材料的用量和复杂程度往往大于悬索屋盖本身,需要设计和施工的密切配合。
