奈奎斯特，H.美国通信工程师。1889年2月7日生于瑞典的尼尔斯比，1976年4月4日卒于美国得克萨斯州的哈灵根。奈奎斯特1907年移居美国，19在北达科他大学电气工程系毕业获理学士学位，19获理学硕士学位，19在耶鲁大学物理系获哲学博士学位。1917～19任美国电话电报公司工程部工程师，1919～1934年任开发研究部工程师。1934～1954年任贝尔电话实验研究所通信系统开发部咨询工程师。奈奎斯特在代时期以研究电话传输问题闻名。1924年在一篇关于电报的论文中就蕴含着信息论的思想。1928年发现信道带宽和传输速率间的关系，提出著名的奈奎斯特定理，在现代通信工程中得到广泛的应用。奈奎斯特发明的残留边带传输原理迄今仍用在电视广播中。1927年他在研究热噪声问题时提出的偏差理论，可用于设计接收微弱信号的通信系统。1932年发现负反馈放大器的稳定性条件，即著名的奈奎斯特稳定判据，可用于各种线性反馈系统的设计。奈奎斯特还是卓越的发明家，在美国就有 138项专利，涉及电话、电报、图像传输系统、电测量、传输线均衡、回波抑制、保密通信等方面。奈奎斯特曾获美国无线电工程师学会(1960)、富兰克林学会(1960)、电气和电子工程师学会(IEEE)(1961)、美国工程科学院(1969)、美国机械工程师学会(1975)的奖章。
