二元经济二元经济dualisticeconomy发展中国家的经济是由两个不同的部门组成的：一是以现代化技术为特点的经济部门，或称现代部门、资本主义部门；二是以传统的落后技术为特点的农业部门，或称传统部门。这两种部门的并存被西方经济学者称之为二元经济或二元结构。这个概念由美国经济学家W.A.刘易斯提出，用以解释发展中国家的经济发展过程。他认为二元经济的发展动力在现代部门。由于传统部门存在着隐性失业，因此现代部门只需支付较低的、与传统农业部门生活水平相适应的工资，就可以获得劳动力的无限供给，所以经济发展的关键在于积累资本。资本积累来自利润的再投资，利润又来自对剩余劳动的有效利用。他将经济发展过程分为两个阶段。在第一个阶段，由于工业资本不多，无力吸收全部剩余劳动，因此无论对劳动力的需求怎样扩大，总能在不变的低工资水平上源源不断地得到劳动力供给。这样工业总产值中利润部分的增长速度将大大超过工资部分增长的速度，于是进入第二阶段，出现一个资本加速积累和迅速吸收剩余劳动力的增长时期，这个时期可以一直持续到劳动力短缺，工资不得不提高为止。以上关于传统农业部门与现代部门之间的划分方法，也可以推广到任何一个两部门经济。例如：可以把传统农业与传统小城镇活动合为一个部门，而把近代农业和工业合为另一部门，如此等等，用以研究二部门间劳动力、资本和产出的流动。发展中国家一般都是二元经济。中国是发展中国家，也是典型的二元经济结构的国家。不仅表现为产业的二元结构，而且地区也表现为二元性，既有商品经济较为发达地区，也有自然经济为主的地区。实现二元结构向单元结构的转移，还需要相当长的一段时间。
